1.000 Visitor!!!

Today, at around 3.30pm WIB (waktu Indonesia Barat/West Indonesia Time) Dee pojok had recieved its 1.000 visitor. Yippie....!!!!!!
Not that I want to be a narcist or anything is just..., aaa what the hell! I'm a narcist!
Anyway...
Thanks to all of you who has come to deepojok. Hope you enjoy it and have a good time reading it. Because that's what deepojok is all about, having a good time.
I definitely indebted to my Cup-cake. I believe she my number one fan of this spot. And then there's my friendly co-pilot Ferdi for all his assitance in setting up deepojok. I also owed much to my ex-CD (Creative Director) Jaja, as he was the one who urged me to write blog, as a way to sharpen my writing skill.
I must also thank all my friend who has come and visited deepojok such as Bavalova. And last but not least, thanks to my new family Blogger Family, without whom it would took years for deepojok to have 1.000 visitors.
Finally, let me just say: see you at deepojok and lets have some fun!!!

Reinventing yourself

All of us must have felt bored with ourself every now and then, bored with what we are or who we are. And sometime during the course of our life, our burden and sins also seem to have mounted so high that you just can't seem to take another step forward. The ghost of past seem to keep on haunting you.
At these times, gradual changes, one-step-at-a-time evolution just don't seem to work.
At times like that, we need something more radical. A version of revolution of self or some sort. Somthing like... reinventing yourself.
But how would you do that? Can we actually wake up one morning and started doing things the other way around?
I don't thing so...
Somehow, the past will always be there.
Somehow, the old me will always be there.
Somehow, our sins will still taint us. No matter how many mass we attented at church, or how many fasting we do...

You only have one chance to make the best out of you, and if you ever felt what I described above, then you probably have missed it.
Sure, you can change...
one step at a time...
But trust me...
the burden will still be there...

State of the nation

Yesterday, out of boredom and lack of better things to do, me and my girl decided to take a trip to Puncak, a mountainous region just south east of Jakarta that has been an escapade for Jakarta's residences for years.
We started off a bit late, around 3PM. As we got off the tollroad leading there, we found out that the road up to Puncak has been closed for traffic going up. Undettered by it and the pouring drizzle, we decided to find an alternative road up. In Indonesia, there's always an alternative.
Following our noses, and other cars obviously heading the same way, we found the alternative road up, but with a little catch. The road was a small one forking off the main road and there were at least a dozen local thugs directing, and blackmailing, the traffic that wish to use the road. The Indonesian has a nickname for these guys, "Polisi Cepekan" (hundred rupiahs cops), since we have to give some money (a hundred rupiah) to them no matter what or else.
Anyway..., the altenative road was a small and long winding road trough the vallies and foot hills of Puncak passing several unknown villages whose only trace of prosperity and modernity is the shadow of BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, and other expensive cars passing in front of their home. Along the way, for every several kilometers there will be more thugs.
Somehow they have discovered the only way they can taste prosperity is by blackmailing the Jakartan's driving pass their home! Hell..., some of the blackmailers even equip themself with a printed receipt signed by the local state officials!
The one thing that sadden me most though, was that despite the rain and the blackmailing, there were kids around doing the same things as their adults. What would you expect from kids who spend their afternoon begging at the front of their own home??? A world cup winner? A nobel prize winner? One of them was only about 3-4 years old.
No wonder those thugs are so good at it, they must have been doing it since they were just a wee lads too.
And so it was..., the small, narrow, and long winding road trough some of the most beautifull places on God's earth (did I mention it was beautiful, the nature?) became the mirror for the state of this beautiful country of ours.

I wonder...

Why would anyone ever wanted to work in advertizing? It's not like you work in a bank, hospital, the army, the entertainment business or the post office, where what you "actually" do is a percieved fact.
I mean, everytime I tell someone that I work in advertizing, they always ask back " what do you do?" Well..., I make advertisement off course. "What kind?" was the most common reply. What follow next is usually a five minute speech done by me about advertizing.
Hell..., even my parents don't really know what I do for a living.
And then there is this fact that everybody hates advertizing, even the one who make them hates it (unless of course its one of your own, in which case narsistic behaviour came in to play). Most people now-a-days would flip the page, go to the bathroom, or change the channel when ever a advertisement comes around. It's just something that nobody needs!!!!! Something that everybody just LOVES to HATE!!!!
But the strangest thing of all..., is that there are people who would actually spend hours toilling, arguing, fighting, shedding tears of blood to make it, like me for an instant. And there are others, thousands others who want to do it...
Well...., before you joint the band, think it over. Please..., for your own sake.

Unless of course..., your live long dream is to make people see/hear/know/feel/like/do what they otherwise wont or even don't want to see/hear/know/feel/like/do, then you are welcome to join.

5 Years Ago

On this very date, five years ago, I pledged my love to a highschool student. At that moment, I also made a promise to myslef that for once I would try to love her whole heartedly. Not that I wanted to settle down or anything, it's just that I wanted to prove to myself that I could be faithful. You see...., up to that point, my friends always thought of me as a player and that the chances for me to actually loved a girl and staying in a relationship were slimmer than the world to actually live in peace and harmony. Up to that point, I was falling in and out of love faster the fluctuation of rupiah.

Well that was five years ago...

I'm sure that most of you who know me can't hardly believe it. That's ok, I can't believe it neither...
I'm still falling in and out love every now and then. And my sweet heart is still a highschool girl in the heart.
Looking back..., I don't know how many tears have been shet or laughter shared, lust enjoyed and troubles overcomed. All I can see is two pairs of foot prints walking together. All I can see right now is that our hands are still together and hopefully will always be...

Sayang..., terima kasih untuk lima tahun yang telah kau persembahan untuk ku. Semoga apa yang telah ku berikan kepada mu selama ini adalah yang terbaik yang pernah kau rasakan.
Sayang, happy anniversary ya....

My Favorites Poem

Written by the amazing Rudyard Kipling, this poem has become my favorite since the first time i ever read it.

The Children's Song
from Puck of Pook's Hills

Land of our Birth, we pledge to thee
Our love and toil in the years to be;
When we are grown and take our place
As men and women with our race.

Father in Heaven who lovest all,
Oh, help Thy children when they call;
That they may build from age to age
An undefiled heritage.

Teach us to bear the yoke in youth,
With steadfastness and careful truth;
That, in our time, Thy Grace may give
The Truth whereby the Nations live.

Teach us to rule ourselves alway,
Controlled and cleanly night and day;
That we may bring, if need arise,
No maimed or worthless sacrifice.

Teach us to look in all our ends
On Thee for judge, and not our friends;
That we, with Thee, may walk uncowed
By fear or favour of the crowd.

Teach us the Strength that cannot seek,
By deed or thought, to hurt the weak;
That, under Thee, we may possess
Man's strength to comfort man's distress.

Teach us Delight in simple things,
And Mirth that has no bitter springs;
Forgiveness free of evil done,
And Love to all men 'neath the sun!

Land of our Birth, our faith, our pride,
For whose dear sake our fathers died;
Oh, Motherland, we pledge to thee
Head, heart and hand through the years to be!
