Ghost Squad!

In the beginning , there was Virtua Cop by Sega. An arcade game that features a first person point of view and a pistol as a controller instead of joystick and buttons. This game let's u be a six-gun slinging, trigger-happy, bad ass cop who run rampage trough the town, shooting every criminal in sight with even bothering to read them their rights. And so a new genre of gamers was born.
Following this path came virtua cop 2, Time Crisis 1, 2, and 3, and also, though I rarely see it, Virtua Cop 3.
And now there is the GHOST Squad, a new game from Sega that lets you be...., well not six gun slinging, but still a bad ass, trigger happy, SOB who is part of a crack Special Forces unit. Sound familiar? I mean what so new about this kind of game right? Especialy when you've had million of hours playing Counter Strike, HALO, DOOM, MOH, Call of Duty, the Virtua Cop and Time Crisis series and many other spin offs.
Well read this review by gamefaqs and you'll get a better picture. But for me, the major attraction is the ability to personalize and develop your character (a privilege that used to belong only to the home consoles and PC based games), multiple endings and secret levels.
With GHOST Squad, playing arcade at your nearest 21 studio will be more than just killing time before the movie start.

intermezzo

I don't know who wrote this, or whether I'm allowed to post this kind of thing. But I guess if any one minds, I'd pretty soon hear from them.

back against the wall

She sat there, with her back against the wall. She’s relaxed now, after all that she’s been trough. Somehow she felt sorry, a twinge of regret. Why didn’t she buy the candy and let her kid have his way. At least he’d be quiet. And maybe he’d smile, for a while. Who would have thought, it could be his last smile.
It’s too late now. Her kid won’t smile again. He was killed out right by the bomb blast that destroyed her store at Tetena. And she, she just sat there, buried alive. Waiting for the oxygen to run out.

in memory of all the people that was killed at Tetena

Dreaming with an open eye

When we were young, my little brother (relatively speaking :P) collected coins. Every single coins that he earned, he never asked for them, one way or another, would be kept in a little tin can. After a couple of years and and several tin cans he just stoped. Nobody ever knew the reason why.
As it turns out, he had a dream of becoming like uncle Scrooge McDuck. You know, Donald Duck's uncle, the richest duck in the world. He wanted to be able to swim in a pool of money.
I never even learnt about his dream untill much later, and I heard it from my girl who is quite close to him. My girl also told me the reason he stoped. It was pretty much a common sense actually. He somehow come into light that coins are made of metal and it is inherently a hard and solid object. It would be difficult, not to mention painfull, to plunge oneself in to a pool of coins.
But the fact that he had a dream and actually made attempts to reach it facinates me.
I'm a dreamer, but yet i can't remember the last time I ever made any real efforts to make it come true.
Often I'd realise the futility of it a mile off, and throw those dreams away. Others are just too hard to accomplish, despite visible. While others are just not woth it.
So I end up living my life day by day, moving from one situation to the next.
Hmm...., maybe I should take a look at my dreams, and like my brother, try to make it come true. At least for a while, it give me a purpose. Some of it are quite visible and worthwhile, I'm sure, like this maybe?
