And also, to keep your ego in check, try getting a stat counter. That way you can make sure that people are actually visiting your blog.
The first one I use, the second one is most popular nowadays, and the last one is the oldest and more experienced. To see just what stats you might be able to get, check out my public ones. As of this writing (since November '04) my blog has had 963 hits, averaging about 10 hits per day. Traffic has somewhat picked up since December 5th at the height of quake-tsunami public attention, hitting a high of 31.
It gives a nice incentive to keep blogging, but there are others... essay coming Real Soon Now™
